As much as it is important to stay up to date with the news and information, it is also important to take some time away from the outside world for yourself. Take a moment each day to go within. Sit quietly inside or out, light a candle, breathe deeply for 10 mins. twice a day.
Why this helps our eating patterns…..
Learn to take a moment of peace for yourself every day and do this often enough to make it feel normal. Then when you have those lost moments, where you end up gliding over to the fridge or cupboard and getting something out to eat you can redeploy them into getting inner peace.
If you calm down and feel relaxed you are much less likely to feel hungry all the time. The messages of whether you are hungry or not are relayed through the enteric nervous system. This is part of your autonomic nervous system that governs the function of the gastrointestinal tract. When we are stressed the messages may not be so clear and we may feel hungry even though we have only recently eaten.
Spending time each day to go within and find inner peace not only stops you opening the store cupboard to look for food when you feel disconnected, it also helps your whole nervous system calm down so you can know when you are truly hungry.
